The Monsters of Tasmania
The Monsters of Tasmania is a children book I have worked on from late 2012 until the start of 2014 in my spare time, between freelance jobs. There's two versions of the book, a limited "explorer" edition, A5 landscape, with lots of extra pages at the end to draw on, and a big hard cover edition. I have illustrated and designed both versions of the book.
Captain Blueberry is a mighty adventurer who sails the oceans searching for the unknown and unseen things of the world. People think she is crazy because she believes in monsters. Can Captain Blueberry and First Mate Albert prove to all that monsters do exist?
The Monsters of Tasmania brings folk tales and sea creatures to life and looks at the Tasmanian Landscape in a whole new, monstrous way.
Readers reviews:
“Fantastic book if you are from or have been to Tasmania. Really creative re-imagining of notable parts of Tasmania's geography. The art is clever enough for the adult reading it to enjoy as well and there are plenty of discussion points in the drawings that you can use for conversations with toddlers. Also nice to have a book with a female-adventurer protagonist.”
“Beautiful book, my kids love it. We especially love that we can add our own monsters to the book!”
“ I love it...not just for little kids! A book to treasure forever!”
