My process:

DISCOVER AND DESIGN

I’ll start by reading your manuscript, reviewing your brief if you have one, and then the research begins. I’ll ask questions, we’ll discuss your target audience, and I’ll check competing titles.

At the end of this process, we’ll have a finalised design brief and a vision for the final outcome. This will include the tone, direction and deadlines for the project.

Already defined your direction? We’ll use this part of the process to review your concepts, refine them if needed and then fast-track to concept creation.

CONCEPT CREATION

Whether it’s a simple book or something image-heavy, I’ll translate the design-brief vision into reality during this part of the process. I’ll provide sketches, draft illustrations, a rough storyboard and book layout.

DESIGN, ILLUSTRATION AND FINISHED ART

I understand the publishing process. I’ll work to publishing deadlines, and my approach is fluid and adaptable.

Taking feedback from the concept creation stage, I’ll start production once the final decisions are made. I work using the medium best suited to the project to create finished art to meet the brief down to the last detail. My illustrations and design will work with your words and text to create an appealing and unique book.
